This letter can be tailored to fit the situation. Items that are [bold and in brackets] should be modified by the user. Please feel free to change the letter around as much as you like, to add specific information, or to make any points you feel necessary.

Dear [name of producer],

I was offended by your depiction of multiple personality in [name of program or movie], in which you perpetuated outmoded and negative stereotypes. Unrealistic depictions of multiplicity as a [dangerous illness / object of ridicule] do nothing to help the many multiples who are healthy, functional and struggling to be accepted. In fact, many multiples live quite ordinary lives and are neither dangerous nor out of control.

If you want to portray multiples in your works, please consider a production starring a functional plural in a positive or heroic role. If you continue to create sensational, harmful depictions just to pull in ratings, I will not support nor watch them, and I will buy no products from the sponsors advertised on your show / who supported your film.
